Wall-Badlands Area Chamber of Commerce Board Meeting Minutes, April 8, 2020

            In attendance: Dustin Curr, Bruce Dunker, Janet Lurz, Kim Handcock, Lindsy Reagle, Anne Jo Spotted Bear, Gordy Kraut and Cindy Hauk. Absent: Terry Mohr. Others Present: Kelsey Clark.

            The meeting was called to order by Board President Dustin Curr.

            Anne Jo moved to approve meeting minutes from the March 17 and April 2 Board Meetings. Second made by Bruce. Motion carried.

            Gordy moved to approve the Treasurer’s Report. Second made by Kim. Motion carried.

            The Chamber will host various shop local promotions that encourage social distancing during this time. A Car Cruise around town will be held on Friday, April 17 starting at 6 PM. The Chamber will hold trivia games about Wall, the community and Chamber Members on the Chamber Facebook page. An activity with a chance to win a $50 gift card will be held each week. Bruce moved to give a $50 gift card each week for shop local activities. Second made by Anne Jo. Motion carried.

             The Chamber will sponsor the Wall Community Clean-Up on May 2; rain date will be May 9. The Chamber will encourage community members to go pick up trash on their own rather than meeting at Wall Drug. Those who participate by picking up litter in the community can post a picture on the Chamber Facebook page for a chance to win a $50 gift card to a local business. Garbage bags will be available outside Wall Food Center.

            Due to concerns of COVID-19, the Board decided to postpone the City-Wide Yard Sale to the fall.

            Board Members discussed concerns regarding COVID-19 and the effect on events such as Wall Crawl. Cindy moved to cancel Wall Crawl 2020. Second made by Anne Jo. Motion carried.

            The Board will reach out to the Wall Celebration Committee to see what they are planning for the 2020 Wall Celebration in response to COVID-19.

            Kelsey informed the board that the Chamber’s Annual Report was filed with the Secretary of States office on April 3, 2020.

            Board members will keep in mind ideas for reduced fees, waive fees or monthly payment plans for 2021 membership fees. The board will continue to follow COVID-19 updates before making a decision.
