Message from Wall Food Center

March 26, 2020

Wall Food Center will be temporarily changing business hours to 8 a.m. - 6 p.m., Monday through Sunday, effective March 27. We are only allowing 5 customers in the store at a time to help control the spread of the COVID-19 virus; please come with only one family member at a time.

We will continue to provide delivery service and curbside service as needed. If you would like to place an order please call the store at 279-2331.

If this epidemic continues to get worse in our area we are gearing up to go to curbside and delivery services only; we will give notice if this happens. We will still provide our service to everyone the best we can in order to keep our community members and our employees safe.

If there are any questions please call me at 515-3418.

The Wall City Council passed Resolution Number 20-05, stating that certain types of business within the City of Wall must close to on-site/on-sale patrons and that all businesses continuing to operate should implement procedures to ensure social distancing and operate in compliance with federal and state health guidance in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The Wall City Council passed Resolution Number 20-06, on April 16, for certain businesses to remain closed due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

May 7, 2020

Coronavirus Public Letter from Mayor Marty Huether

 March 13, 2020

I have held multiple meetings this past week with City staff, City Council members, EMS, Fire Department, Chamber of Commerce, Economic Development and have reached out to local school officials, Pennington County Emergency Management and Monument Health in order to move forward with a joint effort to at least mitigate the effect to our community. I will continue to have a status meeting each Monday morning with all entities mentioned and if things escalate we are prepared to enact our Pandemic Flu Plan as needed.

In regards to the Pennington County resident who is suspected of passing away due to the virus. At this time we do not know where this individual resided. There was information on Keloland that had a locator pin indicating it was several miles south of Wall, which is not accurate. I did reach out to Keloland and informed them that this was causing some confusion and concern. They have assured me that they will rectify this immediately and as of Wednesday afternoon this appears to be corrected.

One of our main goals is to continue to educate the public and encourage everyone to take the steps necessary to minimize the exposure and spread of this virus. With the assistance of city staff and the Chamber of Commerce, we will be posting brochures from the CDC that do a good job of highlighting the FAQ’s and general information on Covid 19 plus they can easily be printed out and shared with others or posted in public places. You can also go to the South Dakota Department of Health website where they will be posting updates as things progress.

If there are any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out and we will do our best to answer them.
